Description
The Department of Pathology at the Yale School of Medicine is seeking a Pathologist (MD, MD/PhD), certified in AP & CP by the American Board of Pathology, with broad skills in surgical pathology for the Bridgeport Hospital practice. This full-time position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on the ladder faculty.  Applicants must be eligible for licensure in Connecticut.  

The successful applicant must have a focus on diagnostic excellence in a semi-specialist surgical pathology environment, performing at a standard commensurate with a major academic center.  Fellowship training in broad-based areas, such as surgical pathology or cytology would be advantageous. An interest in Breast and/or Gynecologic Surgical Pathology or GI Surgical Pathology would be ideal. Cytopathology training also desirable. Excellent communication skills are essential. Opportunities to also participate in the practice, teaching, and research activities ongoing at the Yale Medical School Campus are available, and the successful applicant should expect to spend some of their time at the central Yale campus in New Haven participating in the clinical and academic activities available there. 

Bridgeport Hospital is a highly integrated member of the Yale-New Haven Health System, with 383 licensed beds, and 42 additional pediatric beds licensed under the Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital.  It is a major teaching Hospital, with ~235 medical/surgical residents affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine. The Department of Pathology at Bridgeport Hospital is entirely staffed by physicians who are faculty members of the Yale Department of Pathology. Senior residents from the pathology training program at Yale rotate at Bridgeport; teaching is a major component of the position. 

The case mix is challenging, with an abundance of Breast, GI, Pulmonary, Gynecologic and Urologic cases. Clinical fellowship programs in GI, Gynecologic Surgery and Pulmonary Medicine provide abundant opportunities for collaborative teaching and research.  As a Yale faculty member, the opportunity to access the exceptional resources of the entire Yale system is available.
