At the TU Dresden, "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Institute of Transport Planning and Road Traffic seeks to appoint an outstanding candidate for the

Chair (W3) of Transport Ecology

at the earliest possible date.

Research and teaching at the Chair of Transport Ecology focus on the quantification of environmental impacts caused by transportation as well as on the development of concepts for the reduction of these impacts, both under the assumption of ensuring mobility and implementing the framework provided by established national and international reduction targets. In principle, this includes the protection of humans, animals, plants, biodiversity, land, soil, water, air, landscape, local and global climate with primary focus on their interaction with multimodal transport systems.

Your teaching duties include active contributions to the diploma, bachelor, and master study programmes of the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and other faculties. We highly value cooperation within the faculty as well as collaboration within the DRESDEN-concept alliance. Of particular interest are research areas such as life cycle analysis (LCA), ecological assessment, material and energy flows, technology assessment, climate change or epidemiology. We also expect your willingness to participate in academic self-administration.

We are looking for a dedicated scientist who is internationally recognised in transport ecology and has expertise in the modelling and analysis in at least one of the following areas:

•    Transport-related air pollutant emissions and air quality

•    Global environmental impacts of transport (greenhouse gas emissions, climate change

     mitigation and adaptation)

•    Traffic noise (emission, immission)

•    Transport-related water and soil pollution as well as land use.

Applicants must fulfil the employment of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG). The prerequisites for appointment are the following: a successfully completed university degree in Environmental Sciences, Transport and Traffic Sciences, Natural Sciences or a related relevant discipline, pedagogical aptitude, a special capability for scientific work, usually proven by the quality of a doctorate, and additional outstanding scientific achievements. The latter can be demonstrated by a habilitation, a junior professorship or equivalent accomplishments. We expect your willingness and ability to conduct classes in English. We place particular emphasis on your experience in applying for and conducting research projects, in securing third-party funding, in particular DFG funding as well as a strong publication record. Overall, we wish for an individual with strong communication and team skills, leadership experience, and the ability to motivate others.

If you have any questions regarding the call for applications, please contact the chairman of the appointment committee, Prof. Dr. Tibor Petzoldt, phone +49 351 463-36520.

TU Dresden seeks to employ more female professors. Hence, we particularly encourage women to apply. Applications from candidates with disabilities or those requiring additional support are very welcome. The university is a certified family-friendly university and offers a Dual Career Service. If you have any questions about these topics, please contact the Equal Opportunities Officer of the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences (Dr. Susann Richter, phone +49 351 463-36514) or the Representative of Employees with Disabilities (Mr. Roberto Lemmrich, phone +49 351 463-33175).

Please submit your application including a curriculum vitae in tabular form, a description of your scientific career, a list of publications and previous teaching experience (including teaching evaluation results preferably from the last three years) and a certified copy of the certificate of the highest academic degree acquired to: TU Dresden, Dekan der Fakultät Verkehrswissenschaften „Friedrich List“, Herrn Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Prokop, Helmholtzstr. 10, 01069 Dresden and in electronic form (CD, pen drive or via the TU Dresden SecureMail Portal https://securemail.tu-dresden.de by sending it to dekanat.vw@tu-dresden.de) until 30.10.2020 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service applies).
