About the Strategic Centre for Research in Privacy-Preserving Technologies and Systems (SCRIPTS)

SCRIPTS Centre is a multi-disciplinary research centre funded by a $10 million grant from IMDA and NRF. The centre focuses on research, development, application, and transition of technology towards scalable and customized privacy-preserving technologies that are aligned with national priorities of Singapore in the Services and Digital Economy of RIE2020 framework. Jointly led by Prof. Kwok-Yan Lam from School of Computer Science and Engineering and Prof. Hua-Xiong Wang from School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, the centre specializes in privacy-preserving technologies (PP-Tech), which aim to:

  • Preserve individual privacy while allowing maximum value and insight to be extracted.
  • Enable organizations to carry out data mining, analysis and sharing, in compliance with data protection regulation enacted in various jurisdictions.

Our Mission & Values

  • To serve as a one-stop centre for knowledge, technologies, and solutions for privacy preserving problems.
  • To enable best use of collected data for the benefits of the smart nation by having the ability to preserve the privacy of data during data mining, analysis and sharing.
  • To undertake academic research, develop skilled manpower and translate technology for value creation in the domain of PP-Tech.

Job Descriptions:

  • Work on and develop cutting edge privacy preserving systems with research fellows
  • Work together with the research team in the domain of scientific research and/or industrial/government-related projects
  • Expected to understand the novel algorithms proposed by the researchers (in the area of applied cryptography, differential privacy, distributed learning, etc), the end requirement of the project, and develop the corresponding demos/systems

Requirements:

  • The candidate should possess a bachelor degree in computer science/engineering, mathematics, information science, or relevant field
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: C/C++, Python, Java
  • Good logical and analytical thinking
  • Self-motivated, and could deliver under tight schedule
  • Candidate with a research experience is a plus
  • Candidate with knowledge in applied cryptography, differential privacy, or distributed learning is a plus

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
