Description

The University of Chicago’s Department of Public Health Sciences' Biostatistics Laboratory (BL) is seeking a Senior Research Associate to co-direct the BL. The BL is a core facility of the Biological Sciences Division and currently includes thirteen biostatisticians and data scientists. The co-director of the BL will match research projects to the expertise and availability of members of the BL, supervise the Research Computing Group within the BL, and contribute to solving challenging research problems. 

The appointee will be an experienced biostatistician and have made substantial intellectual contributions to clinical and population-based health research as corroborated by (co-)authorship of peer-reviewed publications, substantial contributions to successful grant applications, and invited speaking and service. Assessment of applicants will consider expertise and breadth of experience with study designs and statistical methods, including both clinical trials and survey research, generalized linear models, multilevel and longitudinal models, structural equation and other latent variable models and network analysis; computational expertise and experience, including programming in both statistical packages and general purpose languages (e.g., Python), experience with scalable platforms for data management and distribution, and algorithms and numerical analysis; and supervisory/leadership experience.
