About the role

As the Senior Coordinator, you will be part of the Safer Community team providing high level risk assessment, advice and support for the management of inappropriate, threatening and concerning behaviours involving students. This team plays pivotal role in reporting and providing advice for sexual harm, family and domestic violence and provides support on reporting with child safety related matters at RMIT. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the work of the team and deliver effective support to students experiencing or fearing harm. You will work closely with and report directly to the Manager, Safer Community and escalate any cases of high risk to the manager. You will also act as a point of escalation for the three Safer Community Advisors reporting directly to you and foster collaborative and inclusive work environment.

About You

  • Previous experience in case coordination, risk assessment and an understanding of the impact of trauma on reporting parties
  • Analytical mindset and ability to develop and provide innovative and practical solutions in the diagnosis of problems
  • Strong communication and resilience skills, ability to respond to people in distress and remain calm and collected in highly stressful situations
  • Demonstrated ability to write detailed, accurate and logical case notes and reports
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to foster collaboration across various teams and draw on your external network resources

Qualifications

Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (eg. forensic psychology; mental health; social work; youth work) and/or extensive relevant experience in education or training.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
