Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine invites applications for:

Research Assistant in the laboratory of Assoc Prof Ho Hau Yan Andy

We are currently recruiting a Research Assistant who will join an expanding team to work on projects in the field of Healthy and Creative Ageing. He/ She will be working in the research lab “Action Research for Community Health (ARCH)”, and the primary study involves an Randomized Controlled Trail of a standardized and cultural-specific Participatory Art programme for improving quality of life and holistic wellness among Singaporean seniors living in the community.

The Research Assistant is expected to plan, organise and implement research projects, in collaboration with principal investigators.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project coordination
  • Liaison with community collaborators
  • Literature review
  • Support data collection via face-to-face/virtual interviews
  • Implementing art-based intervention programmes
  • Data transcription and data analysis
  • Compile research findings and drafting of research reports
  • Co-author academic journal publication

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, counselling, social work, health science or related fields from a reputable university
  • Fluent in spoken and written English with some knowledge in Mandarin
  • Demonstrate excellent inter-personal communication skills
  • Adaptable and willing to enter deep learning in new areas
  • Self-motivated to excel
  • Articulate, strong language competencies
  • An effective communicator to function as a liaison with stakeholders and collaborators.
  • Interest and experience in qualitative research
  • Competent in SPSS and NVivo
  • Team player with the ability to work independently in a multi-cultural environment
  • Able to work closely with professionals in the field of arts and medicine, as well as older adults in the community

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
