The Teaching & Learning office in the Faculty of Arts & Science supports instructors and academic units in translating their goals into effective practice, building teaching expertise and capacity, conducting research and designing pedagogical resources, initiatives and approaches.

Your opportunity:

Under the day-to-day supervision of the Assistant Director, Teaching & Learning Initiatives, the Faculty Liaison, Pedagogical Support will provide a range of services to support the delivery of online/remote teaching and learning activities. In particular, the Faculty Liaison, Pedagogical Support will develop, deliver and assess projects and programming, will consult with instructors and academic units, and will provide feedback on course development and teaching approaches.

This work will be achieved in consultation with the Online Learning Academy, and in close collaboration with other members of the Teaching & Learning Office and colleagues in Information & Instructional Technology - Teaching & Technology Support (TTS).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing components of instructional programs
  • Developing instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for assigned projects
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Advising instructors on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum
  • Providing feedback to instructors on their teaching performance based on observation
  • Developing a comprehensive formal training program that supports operational objectives
  • Researching and recommending educational technologies and best practices related to teaching and learning
  • Developing content for instructional workshops
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Collecting data to identify future academic programming needs and key areas of interest

Qualifications: 
 
Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree (PhD preferred) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years recent and related experience providing consultations to faculty/graduate students on teaching and learning-related topics, educational technologies, pedagogical approaches and developing and delivering pedagogical programming for faculty and/or graduate students.
  • Demonstrated experience working with various educational technologies and pedagogical approaches to educational teaching and learning
  • Experience developing instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies
  • Experience delivering or facilitating presentations/workshops/meetings
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing needs, evaluating and recommending appropriate technology for teaching and learning goals
  • Demonstrated experience in developing resources on educational related matters for instructors and subject matter experts and providing advice on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum
  • Understanding of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at the University of Toronto or other related educational institutions
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Office 365, and expert proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel,PowerPoint) required
  • Demonstrated experience in collecting data and reporting
  • Proficiency in the use of learning management systems, online learning software packages and other related educational technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, planning and project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer-service orientation and ability to work with a variety of clients
  • Strong collaborator in a team-oriented environment.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research in higher education, particularly relating to pedagogical strategies in higher education.
  • Familiarity with the University of Toronto and knowledge of UofT policies and procedures that impact teaching and learning support is an asset.
  • Understanding of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at a post-secondary educational institution

Pay Scale Group and Hiring Rate: USW Pay Band 12 -- $69,730 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $89,172. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
