Position Focus:

The Associate Director will report directly to the Center’s Executive Director and be responsible for assisting in the development and strategy of the Center’s functions and partnerships. This position is responsible for supporting the organization’s mission, and engender innovative thinking that facilitates high quality services with sustainable social impact. The AD will be a strategic, creative thinker with a proven ability to see the big picture, take initiative to create opportunities and get results.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Plays a key role in strategic planning.
  • Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues and community residents to develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program.
  • Acts as an executive representative externally to facilitate the integration of Center alliances and partnerships at a strategic level.
  • Builds senior level relationships to enhance center fundraising efforts and generate partnership opportunities.
  • Co-creates the vision of Center (strategy, marketing/scaling initiatives, social media, research, training/content/coaching) and large-scale projects.
  • Manages and support RULER teams in curriculum development and R&D of content.
  • Serves on executive leadership team and center leadership team.
  • Fundraises for Center efforts.
  • Supports Center staff / interns in their professional development and other needs.
  • Works closely with the executive director to co-create and manage the school relations/training processes/systems and team.
  • Works closely with Director of Center to support with all Center-related activities and special projects.
  • Supports in the building and enhancement of the RULER training program.
  • Speaks to potential clients about RULER.
  • Speaks to current clients and support with implementation.
  • Supports implementation RULER coaches in the field and at the Center.
  • Serves as senior representative of the center for both internal and external audiences.
  • Provides coaching support to RULER coaches, schools, districts as needed.
  • Supports in creating the vision of RULER curriculum development.
  • Develops content with RULER teams to ensure consistency.
  • Works closely with and support technology and content/blended learning teams for content creation.
  • Supports the initiatives of the Center.

Essential Duties

  1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources of an administrative University office dealing with one or more major functional areas.
  2. Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility.
  3. Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives.
  4. Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility.
  5. Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
  6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies.
  7. Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.
  8. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and seven years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Superior critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to make independent decisions.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to provide coaching and guidance to direct reports.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and present trainings and workshops to adult audiences.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Demonstrated experience providing trainings and workshops to adult audiences.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Well-developed knowledge of curriculum theory, design, and implementation.
