The Academic Manager of the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Centre (MSLC) is expected to deal with all aspects of the day-to-day running of the MSLC. This includes overseeing all MSLC teaching staff (including sessional teaching staff), tutor training, class allocation, providing expert subject and course advice, and the delivery of high-quality tutorials. The successful incumbent will provide mentoring to, and management of the staff in the MSLC.

The incumbent will take a leading role in assessing the mathematical qualifications of undergraduate students applying for course and subject entry. The incumbent will take a leading role in teaching and learning innovation within the School and will actively foster research and scholarship into the teaching and learning of mathematics and statistics within the School. In these operational aspects of the MSLC, the Academic Manager will report directly to the Head of School and work with the Director of Undergraduate Teaching

This role sits within The School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne. The School is a large teaching department in the Faculty of Science and has a very strong commitment to teaching mathematics to undergraduate students whose primary discipline pathways lie in areas such as Engineering, Commerce and Biomedicine as well as general Science. The Mathematics and Statistics Learning Centre (MSLC) is responsible for providing a tutorial and teaching program of the highest quality to all students studying Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne.

To be considered for this position you will have completed a PhD in mathematics/statistics or related discipline. You will also be able to demonstrate a successful record of coordination and lecturing of large service teaching undergraduate mathematics subjects.
