The post holder will be directly responsible to the Head of Department and will be expected to deliver the strategic management of the technical support staff and to oversee the management and development of all facilities in the Department. The post holder will proactively engage with both academic and technical support colleagues to ensure that all design, manufacturing, and support services for teaching, research and consulting activities in the Department are provided with an appropriate level of effectiveness.

The post holder will be expected to show leadership in the direction of the large team of technical staff and creativity in meeting the challenges faced in a diverse and successful Engineering Department. The post holder will also be expected to liaise with other central functions to co-ordinate and plan building work and other improvements to departmental facilities. The post holder will also act as the Departmental Health and Safety Co-ordinator.
