Position Summary:

Flinders University is recognised as a leader in medical education, and the curriculum of our medical program has been adopted by universities worldwide. All medical students at Flinders undertake the MD, which integrates clinical medicine with a strong underpinning in biomedical science.

The four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program at Flinders University is committed to contributing to the rural health workforce. To that end, the MD program offers students the opportunity to participate in the Parallel Rural Community Curriculum (PRCC). The PRCC is a parallel curriculum to the Doctor of Medicine program delivered across Rural and Remote SA to a cohort of rurally immersed MD students who opt to undertake the whole of their third year in rural practice. Year 3 of the MD program is primarily delivered in the clinical environment, supplemented by dedicated teaching sessions. Learning in the PRCC is primarily supported by rurally based GP’s, clinicians, academic and professional staff who are based in co-located rural campuses.

The primary role of the Team Leader Rural Medicine is to provide coordination, leadership and educational expertise to support the development and delivery of the PRCC curriculum aimed at enhancing the student experience.

The successful incumbent will supervise Rural Clinical Educators based in PRCC rural sites and be responsible to the Academic Lead Rural and Remote Health SA, Flinders University Rural Health SA (FURHSA).

The position may be situated at any campus across the FURHSA footprint including the Bedford Park campus. The incumbent will be required to travel intrastate and work closely with Adelaide-based MD program staff.

Please note: Pursuant to Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 (SA) this position has been deemed prescribed. It is an inherent requirement of the position that the successful candidate maintains a current Working With Children Check which is satisfactory to the University.

A valid National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the University will also be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
