Joining our BBSRC-funded project on quantifying animal interactions, you will contribute to our research at the University of Bristol. This is an open ended contract with a start date of 01/10/2020 and funding up to 31/03/2022.

You will be responsible for developing new mathematical and computational models of movement to analyse empirical movement data of three specific animal species. As part of this research, you will be collaborating with three international collaborators that have the data and the biological expertise on the three main species. The results of this research are expected to be published in the fields top journals.

The project provides an opportunity to work on fundamental mathematical principles on the movement and interaction between animals but also on their practical implementation, and to collaborate with world-leading academics in the field. As well as carrying the research defined in the BBSRC-funded project to the highest standards, the successful applicant will be expected to work as part of a team with PhD students and other Research Associates and to prepare reports and presentations for project meetings and publications for international journals.

You will become a part of a group of highly motivated researchers, with an interdisciplinary research focus at the interface between applied mathematics, statistical physics and movement ecology. The University of Bristol is home to the Advanced Computing Research Centre https://www.bristol.ac.uk/acrc/, and by joining the team you will have access to our state-of-the-art computational facility.
