London School of Theology (LST) exists to serve the Church worldwide church by educating individuals, equipping local churches and engaging in leading research.  The School, under the leadership of its Principal and Executive Team, has developed a new strategic vision for 2019-2025.  This is a strategy for growth, consolidating LST's position as the largest evangelical interdenominational theological college in Europe.

LST is seeking to recruit a full-time Programme Leader with responsibility for the efficient and effective delivery of the Theology and Counselling programme, and any other programmes added to this area, in compliance with LST’s Validation Agreement with Middlesex University, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and LST’s policies, processes and practices.

The successful postholder will report to the Academic Dean with responsibility for the efficient and effective delivery of the theology and counselling programmes and, in the first year, will need to lead the processes of revalidating the programmes.  The postholder will maintain and develop relationships with professional accrediting bodies such as the BACP and the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) and ensure that the programmes maintain their various accreditations.  Other key tasks include responsibility for the oversight of the professional development of contracted and visiting lecturers; professional and clinical oversight of students in line with BACP accredited course standards; overseeing the assignment of teaching, project supervision, and marking for the programmes; on-campus and online teaching and module leadership; participation in the Academic Board and acting as Chair to Programme Boards and faculty meetings.  The successful postholder will also maintain at least minimal clinical practice to satisfy the requirements of the BACP.

Candidates must be qualified and practising psychotherapists with accreditation with the BACP or equivalent professional body.   A PhD in a relevant subject or a theological qualification and an ability to teach to an advanced level, covering a range of subjects and modalities relevant to the integration of theology and counselling training, will be advantageous.

There is an occupational requirement for the postholder to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010: Part 1, Schedule 9.  It is a condition of employment that the postholder sign annually LST’s Doctrinal Basis and maintain the key values outlined in its Ethos Statement.
