TRAUMA SPECIALIST, STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH AND COUNSELING, MIT Medical, to serve as a content expert on sexual violence in collegiate populations. Will provide clinical consultation to colleagues at Student Mental Health and Counseling Services and provide direct clinical services to students affected by sexual assault, intimate partner violence (IPV), stalking, childhood sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and/or other forms of significant trauma. Will provide individual and group counseling, diagnostic assessment, on-call crisis intervention and management, brief psychotherapy, risk assessments/mandated risk assessments, and long-term community counseling referrals; develop and deliver psycho-educational programs that address the psychological impact of IPV and sexual violence; provide expertise in sexual violence education/prevention/response; and partner with the MIT’s Title IX, VPR, and other related offices charged with coordinating sexual violence education/prevention/response.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D./Psy.D. in clinical/counseling psychology or LICSW; licensure in Massachusetts; at least five years’ counseling experience in a college counseling center or multidisciplinary outpatient mental health center; experience working with college-aged population, including clinical experience with and knowledge of working with trauma survivors; knowledge of, experience and interest in, and demonstrated competence and sensitivity to working with multicultural populations; strong counseling, crisis assessment and management, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and listening skills; knowledge of Title IX, Clery Act, and Campus SaVe Act requirements; understanding of and interest in adolescent and early adult development; ability to collaborate with other departments and administrators; commitment to maintaining ethical standards of professional practice; excellent; initiative; and discretion.

PREFERRED: strong presentation and writing skills; ability to negotiate complex systems with multiple stakeholders; relationship building expertise; understanding of major trends and innovations in addiction education, prevention, and intervention, particularly in campus environments.  Job #18796-9

The number of hours per week will be flexible, but must work at at least 50% effort (20 hrs/wk.) in order to be benefits eligible.
