012546 BiOrbic Graduate Research and Training Coordinator, UCD School of Chemistry, Temporary 4 year post

BiOrbic is a Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre performing both blue skies and industry-focused research to build and support the development of Ireland's bioeconomy. It brings Ireland's leading researchers from across a range of disciplines including biotechnology, systems and synthetic biology, chemistry, chemical and bioprocess engineering, agri-food, agriculture, animal and human nutrition, marine and social sciences. The centre is a collaboration between University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Teagasc, National University of Ireland, Galway and University of Limerick and a variety of domestic and international industry partners, with Centre Operations located at UCD.

Applications are invited for the temporary post of Graduate Research and Training Coordinator within the BiOrbic Bioeconomy Research Centre. The successful candidate will work to ensure the smooth implementation of a training and skills development programme for the next generation of bioeconomy leaders. This role is student-facing and will involve a high level of support for the Centre's students who are funded by Science Foundation Ireland and other national and international funding agencies. The post holder and will coordinate BiOrbic's training activities for the Centre's 50+ graduate research students. This will include all administrative and training aspects of the Atoms to Products Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) programme. This new programme is funded by SFI and EPSRC and is forming a new generation of PhDs who are trained to embed sustainability into their work whilst having an understanding of the commercial needs of industry. The post holder will ensure smooth and effective implementation of this cutting-edge programme which is delivered in close collaboration with the University of Nottingham. The current CDT cohort is 5 PhD students, and 5 more students will be recruited to the programme annually for a total of 5 years.

The post is based at UCD with occasional travel required to other BiOrbic partners and to the University of Nottingham. BiOrbic supports flexible working and flexible arrangements can be discussed with the candidate.

Salary range: €38,000 - €42,000 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
