SENIOR RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Institute for Medical Engineering and Science/Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, to provide comprehensive technical support and assistance with research experiments within an experimental neuroscience/engineering laboratory. Will perform basic operational and research-related tasks working with human pluripotent stem cells and fluorescence imaging under the general supervision of a principal investigator and postdocs; perform prep work for experiments such as reagent preparation; conduct standard lab techniques and functions, e.g., maintenance of human stem cells cultures, neuronal/glial differentiation/reprogramming from stem cells, immunofluorescence microscopy, and other cell biology/stem cell biology-related assays; maintain lab inventory and order lab supplies on a routine-bases; and perform other duties as assigned. May handle required safety matters and interface with MIT environment health and safety personnel. The opportunity to contribute to projects and publish scientific papers is available as competency in various skills is demonstrated.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; exposure to a research lab and working knowledge of general laboratory practices and procedures; ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; and ability to troubleshoot experimental obstacles and exhibit good judgment.
PREFFERED: a B.S. in biology, neuroscience, bioengineering or a related field; and experience with cell culture, especially neuronal or stem cell culture. Job #18526-4
