Part-Time, Permanent (17.5 hours per week) 

The Department of Media Arts, Royal Holloway, University of London, wishes to recruit a 0.5 Senior Lecturer/Senior Teaching Fellow to teach on its highly successful MA Producing Film and Television PGT programme based at the Central London campus in Bedford Square. 

The post will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to teach on our MA Producing Film and Television MA and continue to develop this long established and highly successful programme. The emphasis of the programme is on a providing a cohort of highly committed students with an up to date and professional introduction to the world of producing film and television. The emphasis is on current practice and presenting fully trained graduates ready to start their careers in this fast-growing industry.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to work in a prestigious academic institution, with Royal Holloway placed 24th in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide national rankings for 2019, and the Department of Media Arts ranked in the top ten for the subject in REF 2014. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work closely with senior colleagues in the Department of Media Arts and the School of Performing and Digital Arts in a period of exciting development for the College.

The successful candidate will have worked for several years in the film and television industries as an Executive Producer or Producer with a track record of bringing significant productions to distribution/broadcast. Of particular relevance will be the successful development and production of feature films and/or television drama formats for a range of markets including broadcast television and streaming services such as Amazon, Netflix, HBO etc. Knowledge of, and familiarity with, current industry practice is essential and some higher education teaching experience would be useful.   

The post holder will report to the Head of Department of Media Arts, undertaking appropriate managerial and administrative duties. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organisational, team-working and interpersonal skills, with proven abilities to engage with students and colleagues.
