The Institute of Catastrophe Risk Management invites applications for the position of Research Associate.

ICRM is a multi-disciplinary catastrophe risk management research institute which advances understandings and develops models of risks related to natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, and floods, and non-traditional risks such as infectious diseases and terrorism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining the Institute’s GIS and Database infrastructure to support its research work
• Running of in-house risk models and outreach activities
• Develop data capturing and visualization tools
• Oversee and maintain the Institute’s GIS infrastructure including its data depository developed in MS SQL and VM environments
• Establish procedures on data quality assurance, and develop documentation

Job Requirements:

• Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science or closely relevant field
• Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience covering GIS, VM and Database Management
• Demonstrated knowledge of programming languages, such as C++, C#, Java, or Python, within a GIS environment
• In-depth knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, OpenGIS (e.g. QGIS), and other GIS products
  • Specifically, to cover ESRI ArcGIS Product Suite version 10.6 and above, including ArcPy scripting, ArcGIS Model Builder, ArcGIS Pro and map publishing
• In-depth knowledge of developing web-based applications and API in software applications
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with MS SQL Server database management and Window Server OS
• Experience in management and administration of the virtual server environments, such as Microsoft Azure, VMware and other VM products
• Excellent English skills, oral and written
