Research Assistant in Infectious Diseases

We are currently recruiting a Research Assistant to join our Group (https://sites.google.com/site/lipidsinsystemshealthlab/). Our research focuses on understanding the link between metabolism and infectious diseases by taking a systems biology approach involving next generation lipidomics and other omics approaches.

The candidate will participate in our group’s exciting research on elucidating the functions of lipids in the long term persistence and drug resistance of bacterial pathogens which pose a global health threat. He/ She will be involved in cultivation of clinical microbial isolates, sample preparation and analyses. Other duties include procurement and safety to support laboratory research needs. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of investigators in LKCMedicine, clinical and industry partners and will be given comprehensive on-the-job research training.  

Candidates should preferably have/be:

A good BSc- or BTech-equivalent or higher Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or related disciplines.Strong interest in infectious diseases and microbiology At least 1 year of experience in a research laboratory Experience and skills in microbiology and bacterial culture techniques Experience in biochemical and molecular biology assays Prepared to undertake research administration tasks, including procurement, maintain laboratory SOPs, etc A good sense of initiative and organization and ability to work in a team

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions:

• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
