The Singapore Membrane Technology Centre (SMTC) under the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI), at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore, was established in January 2008 to do fundamental and applied research in membrane technology. In particular, it has a mission to be a world-class research centre in membranes for the environment, water, energy and cleaner production. This is achieved through combining multidisciplinary talents at NTU as well as working closely with government institutions, other universities and industry partners to bring the outcomes of the research activities to larger scale through collaborative projects.

Job Descriptions:

  • Prepare literature review and searches to outline research in the field 
  • Operation and maintenance of membrane system
  • Participate in data collection and preparation, and support data analysis 
  • Prepare reports and documentations for the research program

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering
  • Knowledge of membrane separation process and water chemistry
  • Basic understanding of research and analytical skills
  • Able to work in lab environment and at site
  • Competencies in Microsoft Office and technical report writing

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
