City's Division of Optometry & Visual Sciences combines a longstanding tradition of academic excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate level with a research-active body of academics and PhD students. There are currently over 20 academic staff in the division contributing to our courses in ophthalmic dispensing and optometry as well as carrying out applied vision research spanning fundamental visual science to ophthalmic health policy. 

City Sight is our state-of-the-art optometry clinic offering a wide range of eye care services to the general public and local businesses.
Services offered include:
• Comprehensive eye examinations using the latest equipment and techniques including 3D OCT camera used to screen conditions including glaucoma, diabetes and age-related macular degeneration
• Specialist clinics for children, contact lenses, binocular vision problems, specific learning difficulties, visual impairment and colour vision defects

• Wide range of spectacles and contact lenses at competitive prices with a 20% discount on high street RRP

The City Sight Clinic provides placements for final year Optometry students and offers generic and specialist services to individuals, NHS and other public and private sector organisations.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Clinic Manager to work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and senior academic colleagues in order to ensure the efficient and effective running of all optometry clinical services at the City Sight Clinic. The post holder will be responsible for managing a team of clinical and professional colleagues to deliver effective support for course delivery and student needs. The role holder will be expected to ensure that City Sight is compliant with all governance and policy requirements for NHS, General Optical Council and any other relevant Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies, and well as general Health and Safety and GDPR requirements.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be an optometrist registered with the GOC with practice management experience and able to demonstrate sound and comprehensive post registration clinical experience. 

The successful candidate will also have general management experience gained through working in the private and/or public sector, a proven track record of practice management and leadership and general experience of optometric practice, this may be within or outside of the UK. Experience of teaching and / or supervising students and a high level of communication skills is essential. 

This is a full time, fixed-term position to cover a period of maternity leave.
