The Sydney School of Education and Social Work in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is a national and international leader in Education, Social Work and Social Policy, committed to: excellence in professional practice; rigorous research-informed and theoretical understanding of the social, political and cultural contexts of education, social work and social policy; and, informed and critical engagement with theory, policy and practice in ways designed to transform communities and individual lives in socially just ways. Our work is characterised by strong relationships between research, scholarship, teaching and learning that contribute to building partnerships for professional practice, critical research and policy.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding senior academic to lead the school’s Social Work and Policy Studies Program. The successful applicant will be a leading authority within their discipline, with an international reputation for excellence. The successful applicant will be expected to provide leadership in the development of the program’s research capacity and enhance the program’s competitive funding profile. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the leadership and strategic direction of the University by participating in collegial governance and decision-making, and help foster a culture of excellence through guiding academic staff and students towards success.

Term and remuneration

The successful applicant will be offered a full-time continuing position, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees, and will be offered an attractive remuneration package.
