Exciting Clinical Academic role in the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as part of a joint appointment with the Women’s and Children’s Hospital

Full-time, 3 year fixed term contract with a possibility of a continuing position subject to funding and performance commencing January 2021

An attractive remuneration package at a consultant and an Academic Level C for this joint appointment will be offered, including up to 17% superannuation

The Adelaide Medical School is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology who will be based at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH), and will participate in the delivery of clinical services in the area of Maternal Fetal Medicine.

As the appointee, you will supervise trainee medical staff, undergraduate and post-graduate students. You will provide leadership in teaching and research in the Adelaide Medical School, and in service and policy development at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. As the appointee, you will further develop Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine as academic entities within the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

This full-time position will be located within the Adelaide Medical School or its affiliated research and teaching spaces, with clinical services and duties provided in the Women’s and Babies Division at the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN).

The responsibilities to the University of Adelaide position include leadership in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and the development of a high quality research program relevant to the Discipline. Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to evaluate and provide academic support to the Division of Women’s and Babies in WCHN including the promotion of a culture of research and teaching excellence.

The responsibilities to WCH will include Clinical Delivery, Clinical Leadership and Clinical Administration.

Term of position: 3 year fixed term joint position, appointed to the University of Adelaide and Women’s and Children’s Health Network (successful applicant will be provided with two separate employment contracts)

To be successful you will need:

  • Registered as a medical practitioner and specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist with AHPRA
  • FRANZCOG (or equivalent) plus DDU (or equivalent) or CMFM or working towards same
  • Higher research degree (MD or PhD) or working towards same
  • Experience in conducting high quality research in a recognised area of strength within the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching both undergraduate and post-graduate students in a tertiary clinical and academic setting
