We’re looking for a Deputy Head of Communications to join our creative, hard-working and talented team.

You’ll be passionate about the difference excellent communications can make to our students, staff, stakeholders and the diverse communities we serve. Equally adept at external and internal comms, you will be able to demonstrate proven results in setting the approach for high impact communication campaigns, be able to produce engaging content for a range of audiences, and be confident leading a diverse and talented team while juggling multiple priorities and stakeholders.

The role

In this role you will develop and lead a strong core professional function which includes direct responsibility for external and internal communications, press and media, graduations and public events. The role also plays a wider role in developing marketing and communications strategy, assisting in planning and process across the whole Division, and in building a strong community of highly motivated, capable comms professionals all working towards common goals.

The person

To be successful in this post you will be an experienced leader within communications, with deep and broad functional expertise, emotional intelligence and the ability to lead both with and beyond authority. You will excel at the stakeholder dimensions of communications leadership.

This challenging position will suit those with a proven background within internal communications, public engagement, journalism or PR. While higher education experience is desirable, it is not essential.

At the University of Bristol, we value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. We believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.

To apply, please click on the "Apply for job" button. Applicants should attach a curriculum vitae with a covering letter setting out their interest in the role and details of how they feel they match the required criteria. The CV and covering letter should be attached as one document in the “Upload documents” section.

The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Sunday 12th July 2020.

It is anticipated that interviews will take place via video call on Monday 27th July 2020.

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
