Bioinformatician C
This position will act as an Administrative Assistant Director at the Penn Center for Global Genomics. Duties include assisting the Center Director with developing and administering Center activities in addition to conducting research related to genomic studies of health disparities. Duties will include maintaining the Center website, organizing and teaching genomics and bioinformatics workshops, organizing symposia, working as needed on collaborative projects for the center, assisting with obtaining funding for the Center and conducting independent research. The Administrative Assistant Director will develop and implement methods for analyzing highly complex genomic, transcriptomic, and/or epigenetic datasets for which there is linked phenotype data. They will assist with QC and storage of large genomics datasets. They will assist with supervising/training of postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and research technicians. They will take a lead role in publishing papers and in writing grants.
Qualifications:
The minimum of a Master's degree in biomedical science and a minimum of 5 years of experience in bioinformatics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Ideal candidates will have training in bioinformatics and/or statistical analysis of genomic and phenotypic data in order to identify genetic variants associated with disease risk. Experience in global health related research and administrative experience is also desired.
