Job Description

Project Manager for NIH-funded multi-year multi-center cohort study of patients with pulmonary vascular disease or advanced liver disease. The candidate will create and implement a strategic plan for the project, update and maintain the study's manual of procedures, coordinate the operation of the UPenn and external Field Centers, and oversee the operations of participating external cores: cardiac imaging, laboratory core, and pulmonary function. He/she will be responsible for quality assurance and quality control, including training at sites (requiring travel to the site), ongoing monitoring of data, maintenance of staff certification at sites, and adherence to procedures. The candidate will oversee data and clinical coordinating activities, and abstract and manuscript processes in collaboration with the Principal
Investigator.

The manager will ensure that all deliverables are completed, on time and within budget, including submission of progress reports and regulatory materials as required.  A high level of independence, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are expected.

Responsibilities include serving as a liaison between the PI and the rest of the team (including the Steering Committee, other investigators, study staff, consultants, the IRB, and the NIH), managing and monitoring operations and timelines, and working with the PI and grants manager to manage the grant budget.

Position Qualifications:

A BA/BS with at least 3-5 years of clinical trial/clinical research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Management and supervisory experience preferred. Effective problem solving abilities, effective communication and writing skills preferred. Proven ability to manage multiple projects required. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently. Applicant must be able to appropriately prioritize, manage time effectively and exercise mature judgment. Knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations essential.
