Project Officer

Job Details

School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering is looking for a candidate to join them as a Project Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop insect-computer hybrid robots: the sensor-backpack mounting on living insects to (i) report environmental conditions and (ii) electronically stimulate their neurons and muscles to navigate them on demands
  • Develop algorithm, software architecture, execute coding, troubleshoot and debug software solution
  • Integrate and test software solution with sensor-backpack and living insect
  • Technical write up and presentation

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechatronics/ Electronics/Computer Engineering/ Robotics, or relevant field
  • Experience with C/C++ and C# programming
  • Experience in real time embedded system hardware and software development
  • Experience in programming with Real Time Operation System
  • Experience in wireless communications (BLE and Sub-Ghz) is advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience in insect anatomy and physiology are not necessary
  • A team player and technically motivated to solve problems
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
