Time to shine

It's not every day you get chance to implement real change but as an Associate Head of School at Coventry University this is your moment to do just that. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual to continue developing academically by leading a key activity at the university while acquiring further managerial skills along the way.

You will join a vibrant community of scholars, researchers and practitioners in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities which has a global profile and a heritage of quality built up over 175 years. And, over the last five years, we are proud to have invested over £250million in our academic capability while further developing our world-class facilities so that both our staff and our students remain in great hands.

Our School of Art and Design is a dynamic environment which embraces innovation in teaching, research and professional practice. Offering a broad range of exciting courses across subjects such as fine art, graphic design, fashion and architecture, the School is internationally recognised and award-winning, with a tradition of innovation since 1843.

As Associate Head, you will take responsibility for leading the development of staff research capability across the School and work with research centres across the university to maintain networks and relationships at national and international levels, identifying and delivering new opportunities for the School. With guidance from the Associate Dean Research (AD-R), you will also work with the School’s staff who have achieved research centre associate status whilst supporting the Aspire Scheme which develops staff working towards this.

To fulfil this role, you will need a PhD and research experience in a relevant subject area, together with a track record of academic excellence and innovation relevant to the Research portfolio.

In return for your skills and commitment, Coventry University provides opportunities for both career and personal development in the form of a tailored development programme. In addition, our comprehensive benefits package includes a generous holiday allowance and pension, as well as flexible working options. We will also consider assistance for those wishing to relocate to the Coventry area.

It will soon be Coventry’s time to shine as UK City of Culture 2021. So why not make it yours?
