Job Details

012467 - Building a Healthy World Project Manager, UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, Temporary 3 year post full-time or possibility of part-time, minimum of 0.8 full time equivalent, will be considered

The position of Research Manager for "Enabling a Healthy World", which includes the "UCD One Health" theme, is a co-funded position between The Wellcome Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) and the College of Health and Agricultural Science to enable the development of UCD's Health research strategy. The ISSF is supported under the SFI-HRB Wellcome Biomedical Research Partnership, with matched funding from UCD which enables UCD to strategically advance research in One Health and to leverage further external funding from agencies such as the EU and the Wellcome Trust, amongst others.

This post will support initiatives in the overarching University theme of "Enabling a Healthy World" and the "UCD One Health" subtheme which integrates human and veterinary medicine with environmental science - an area of direct relevance to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The post holder will facilitate the growth of strategic partnerships with other Universities and Industry. The role will enable the identification of opportunities and the development of internal teams of critical mass with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research, and on research that translates into real benefit for humans, animals and society. This will include gap analysis, facilitation of networking events, and co-ordinating and supporting collaborations. A key measure of success of these collaborations will be the ability to leverage large scale funding and enable high quality research outputs.

The possibility of working on a part-time basis, to a minimum of 0.8 full time equivalent, will be considered.
