This post offers an exciting opportunity for an epidemiologist to join the Bristol Medical School Musculoskeletal Research Unit as a project manager for the newly awarded NIHR/Wellcome Trust funded study: Fractures in Sub-Saharan Africa: epidemiology, economic impact and ethnography; the Fractures-E3 study. Working within an international multi-disciplinary study team, the post holder will be expected to deliver high quality and rigorous research in collaboration with partners in South Africa, Zimbabwe and The Gambia. The research programme will determine vertebral fracture prevalence, hip fracture incidence, risk factors for fracture, and outcomes post fracture across a diverse range of countries. Ethnographic research will inform understanding of fracture care pathways.

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent considerable experience) in a discipline of relevance to epidemiology as well as high level project planning, co-ordination, organisational and time management skills. We are particularly interested in appointing someone with an interest in global health research.
