Description

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Chicago seeks qualified lecturers for the 2020/21 school year to teach courses in the field of high performance computing (HPC) for the Masters Program in Computer Science (http://csmasters.uchicago.edu/).

As part of its curriculum, the MPCS offers a specialization in HPC that includes classes such as an introductory HPC class (https://mpcs-courses.cs.uchicago.edu/2019-20/spring/courses/51087) and a Parallel Programming class (https://mpcs-courses.cs.uchicago.edu/2019-20/spring/courses/52060). The MPCS seeks to expand its offering of classes in this specialization. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, Numerical Methods and Computer Architectures for HPC Systems.

This position is part-time and is not benefits eligible. Applicants must currently be authorized to work permanently in the U.S.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree or doctorate in Computer Science or a related field at the time of appointment, or 5 years of relevant industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Computer Science or a related field at the time of appointment, or 10 years of relevant industry experience;
  • Teaching experience in Computer Science or a related field at the undergraduate or graduate level, as either an instructor of record or a teaching assistant;
  • Work experience in a computing-related industry.
