Joining our EU-funded project on aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of novel aircraft architectures, you will contribute to our experimental and numerical research at the University of Bristol. This is offered on a full-time, open-ended contract with a proposed end date of 31/01/2024.
You will be responsible for developing new experimental test rigs, performing high-quality aerodynamic and aeroacoustic measurements for new aircraft configurations, with novel propulsion systems and high-performance lifting devices, and developing new measurement techniques to help better understand the aerodynamic performance and the noise generation of such new configurations. You will also use in-house low-order computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools for better understating of the aerodynamic performance of new wing systems at different operational conditions. As part of this research, you will be collaborating with several UK and EU partners and are expected to visit different universities during your research. You will be using the National Aeroacoustic Facility at the University of Bristol. The results of this research are expected to be published in the fields top journals.
The project provides an opportunity to work on a very timely project, with great interest from industry and will give you the opportunity to collaborate with world-leading academics in the field. You will be able to attend several international conferences to present your results. As well as carrying the research defined in the project to the highest standards, the successful applicant will be expected to work as part of a large team and to prepare reports and presentations for project meetings and publications in international journals. You will have a PhD (or close to completion) or equivalent professional qualifications/experience in aerodynamics, aeroacoustics or relevant fields.
