Description
The University of Chicago’s Urban Theory Lab (UTL) seeks to develop frameworks of critical spatial knowledge that illuminate the dynamics of planetary urbanization, with particular reference to the territorial, infrastructural and ecological preconditions and consequences of city-building under modern capitalism. The Associate Director will be a key member of the UTL senior research team who works closely with the faculty Director to advance the Lab’s research programs and pedagogical initiatives, and to implement a comprehensive, long-term research strategy. In collaboration with the faculty Director, the Associate Director will conduct original research on topics related to the Lab’s agendas; lead our work in spatial data design and geospatial visualization; help secure and implement funded research; and contribute to the planning of conferences, colloquia and exhibitions. The Associate Director may contribute to pedagogical initiatives, including occasional teaching.
