About the opportunity 

Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA) is welcoming applications for a Manager – Engagement, Industry and Entrepreneurship to play a key role in supporting the CEO to develop and achieve the Sydney Quantum Academy’s objectives for engagement. The role will contribute to the development and implementation of SQA’s business plan for engagement, ensuring alignment with overarching objectives.

The Manager – Engagement, Industry and Entrepreneurship will establish, develop and maintain relationships and implement partnership agreements with within businesses of all sizes who are working in or with quantum computing/science or are looking to do so.

The role will be key in supporting the SQA’s external advisory committee, including developing proposals and implementing recommendations, and working closely with members of the SQA team to ensure that engagement is incorporated into programs and other initiatives.

  • academic qualifications and/or extensive equivalent relevant experience in one or more industries relevant to quantum computing (e.g. IT, education, finance, banking)
  • experience working in a business development/relationship management role within a university/research setting.
  • demonstrated ability to develop relationships and to use initiative to develop and deliver outcomes for mutual benefit - experience drafting proposals and developing agreements will be well regarded
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes and effectively deliver results
  • knowledge and appreciation of quantum computing and its potential benefits and impacts
  • ability to think strategically, demonstrated conceptual, analytical and report writing skills related to partnership development
  • accuracy, attention to detail and highly organised.
  • planning, analysis and communication skills together with the ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands. insert final key point beginning with lower case and ending with a full stop.

About us

The Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA) is an unincorporated joint venture between The University of Sydney, The University of New South Wales, Macquarie University and University of Technology Sydney to establish Sydney (and Australia) as a global destination for talent, investment and innovation in relation to quantum computing and the future quantum economy. An innovative, collaborative model, the SQA will offer PhD scholarships, Visiting Fellowships, as well as coordinate PhD coursework and UG and PG coursework and pathways, across the four universities to develop the next generation of quantum scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs. It will seek to promote entrepreneurship and support the development of a quantum eco-system across Sydney and NSW. The SQA will engage with industry, governments and the broader community to promote understanding about quantum science and the opportunities and challenges that will emerge with these transformative technologies - including the ethical, political and social challenges.
