Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer (several posts) in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 500215), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Computer Science or other relevant disciplines, and an excellent publication track record. Post-doctoral Fellow experience in conducting scientific research as well as demonstrated expertise in research field relevant to the platform project mentioned below are required. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken in English and Chinese; proficiency in IT; strong analytical skills; good communication and interpersonal skills; be organized, flexible, self-motivated and attentive to details; and be able to handle multi-tasks independently. They should also have an interest in developing solutions to problems and finding new ways of working, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision, and a good sense of tact in dealing with sensitive and confidential issue.

The appointees will participate in a multidisciplinary research to develop a big data/machine learning/scientific computing platform for discovery of next generation energy materials and design novel devices on computers or in silico, which is a 5-year large-scale project supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission. The project aims to transfer the success of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) in microelectronics to the energy industries, including the optoelectronic, electrochemical and chemical industries. They will also assist in the administrative work related to research and event activities. Working off-campus may be required.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
