The School of Biological Sciences invite applications for the position of Senior Research Fellow.
Job Description
- Lead the cutting edge research on Plasmodium, the causative agent of Malaria
- Work in a large collaborative team and coordinate activities to dissect processes governing host selection and adaptations underpinning malaria zoonosis
- Generate new knowledge and tools that can be used to control this deadly infectious agent
- Multi-task and coordinate projects involving multi-disciplinary teams (biologists, clinicians and engineers)
- Mentor junior fellows and students and spend considerable time in preparing research related documents, communications and manuscripts
Job Requirements
- PhD in biological sciences
- Extensive knowledge and more than 10 years of experience (after PhD certification) in research involving malaria parasites and red blood cells
- Multi-disciplinary background spanning cell/molecular biology, analytical biochemistry and bio-engineering
- First and/or corresponding author publications in peer-reviewed journals of high repute
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as evidenced by conference presentations/publications
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate large collaborative teams
- Potential to supervise and mentor junior researchers and students
- Some experience in handling research funding and budgeting will be an added advantage

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.
The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility:
• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university.
Terms and Conditions:
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
