Job Description Summary

The swine group at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team at the Penn Vet Swine Teaching and Research Center located on the New Bolton Center campus in Kennett Square, PA. The position provides a unique opportunity for someone interested in gaining valuable experience in swine production.
Candidates must either be a graduate of a four year animal science bachelors program or a graduate of an AVMA accredited veterinary technician or technology program (eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a CVT).

The specialist will be trained to carry out daily farm activities related to the daily care of pigs in the various stages of production, including: farrowing, nurser, grow/finish and adult breeding herd as well as participate in farm biosecurity, animal assessments and appropriate treatments. Depending upon interest, the animal care specialist may also have the possibility to contribute to our teaching and research initiatives.
