Department of Biology

The Department offers a new and unique major programme in 2019-20 — Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Bioresource and Agricultural Science. It is the first professional and multi-disciplinary degree programme in Hong Kong that explores key issues shaping the outlook of agricultural science and management of bioresources from the perspective of sustainability. Therefore, the Department is recruiting a tenure-track faculty member in the following area:

Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (Crop Protection or Crop Production) (PR0429/18-19)

Applicants should have a PhD in agriculture, horticulture, forestry or related fields with postdoctoral training, and a track record of outstanding research publications and teaching credentials. Candidates who use cutting-edge approaches to address plant disease control and/or apply the knowledge of soil-plant relationship for crop improvement are highly desirable.

The appointee will develop strong externally funded research programmes, and commit to excellence in teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The position is on tenure-track with initial appointment on a three-year fixed-term contract. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Tenured appointment is expected to be attained within six years.
