Associate Professor / Professor (Artificial Intelligence and Applied Ethics) (PR0310/19-20)
The Department of Religion and Philosophy seeks a dynamic colleague for a philosophy position in Applied Ethics beginning in August 2020. Applicants must be experienced in research related to artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and ethics, and must have a record of publication and teaching in the area. Additional desirable qualifications include experience in logic, computation and methodology and philosophy of science. The person will be charged with playing a leading role in developing a University-level centre for research on AI and Ethics and in recruiting researchers in relevant areas.
Applicants should possess a relevant PhD degree with a strong track record of research and teaching accomplishments. Those applying for a Professor rank should demonstrate an outstanding track record of publications and grant capture, as well as strong leadership potential and administrative capacities.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. Outstanding candidates for the rank of Associate Professor or above may be considered for appointment with tenure.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
