The Department/ College

The Department of Life & Environmental Sciences, which is part of the College of Natural and Public Health, is an interdisciplinary department that currently offers undergraduate programs in Life & Environmental Science, Psychology and Human Services, and Public Health and Nutrition, as well as Health Care Administration (Executive Masters). 

The College of Natural and Public Health (CNHS), which also houses the Department of Life & Environmental Sciences, is firmly grounded in the UAE’s determination to build a sustainable future while preserving the integrity of its traditions. The College offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in key areas that promote the study of issues related to environmental, social, cultural and economic sustainability. The majors in the College take a broad, multidisciplinary approach to identifying and addressing the complex, intertwined areas of modern society and its sustainable relationship to the natural environment. CNHS students are uniquely equipped, through research and internship experience, to understand and to work at the intersections of the traditional disciplines of the cultural, social, humanitarian, political, scientific and technological fields.

The Opportunity

The Department of Life & Environmental Sciences is seeking enthusiastic and experienced full time Instrumental Lab Technician candidate who will be responsible for the technical aspects of the Science teaching and research laboratories. The candidate should be able to manage the day-to-day operations of all teaching and research laboratories, including equipment preparation and maintenance, safety standards and training compliance.

The candidate will be responsible for the laboratory facility at Zayed University to ensure that all requirements are available and accessible when required. The candidate will record and maintain laboratory supply inventories, recommend and submit laboratory supply purchasing requests, support faculty and students during laboratory classes and research, operate, perform manual procedures, perform quality control protocols, and prepares documents/reports as required. 

The candidates will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of various Analytical Chemistry and Molecular Biology Techniques and instrumentation's particularly GC/MS, IC, ICP, AAS, FTIR, UV-VIS, HPLC and basic analytical instruments. 

The candidate will be responsible for processing and pre-treatment of samples for environmental analysis (air, water, soil, animals & plant tissues),  managing Data, analyses and preparing result summaries from quantitative measurements and large data sets. The candidate should be ready to do field trips for sample/ data collection.

The Requirements

Candidates should have a MSc at the time of appointment in Chemistry or Biology from a recognized university, and the capacity to teach in an interdisciplinary environment. Evidence of teaching excellence and experience is important along with a student-centered and innovative approach to teaching. Should have at least 5 years of experience in Analytical instrumentation in relevant field.
