RESEARCH LABORATORY OPERATIONS MANAGER, Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), to manage the operations of a research lab, including budget, personnel, and facilities oversight.  Will also serve as the primary contact for laboratory staff, students, and postdoctoral associates; manage the storage and cataloging of samples and document protocols; and collaborate with the principal investigator (PI) and other lab members on overseeing the lab’s research activities.  Responsibilities include managing existing and/or developing new systems/processes to improve laboratory operations; budget management; serving as liaison to the PI on all personnel matters and working with the PI on hiring, onboarding, and reappointing personnel; providing training on general lab operations, equipment and protocols, and safety; supervising lab technicians and mentoring high school/undergraduate students; participating in and/or overseeing research activities; facilities management (e.g., researching, procuring, and maintaining equipment/instruments; organizing clean-ups/inspections; managing vendor relationships and service contracts, etc.); maintaining multiple culture collections; lab safety management; maintaining biological/chemical registrations and inventories; coordinating external/internal collaborations, meetings, and events; managing supply inventories; managing lab website, servers, software/licenses, data storage, and workstations; ensuring appropriate record-keeping; and other duties as requested. 

Job Requirements
REQUIRED
:  bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in related scientific field; two years’ experience working in a large research laboratory; strong technical/scientific writing, interpersonal, presentation, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills; budget management, project management, and supervisory experience; ability to promote collaboration on a diverse team of graduate students/postdocs/research staff; and proficiency with Microsoft Office, experience conducting on-line research, and willingness to learn new management software.  Must be able to make decisions for own work area; determine, develop, and/or recommend changes to lab procedures/processes; train others on lab policies/procedures; and maintain confidentiality.  Job #18559
