Manager of Finance and Administration, Community Innovators Lab

MANAGER OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION, Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP)-MIT Community Innovators Lab (CoLab), to oversee all operational dimensions of CoLab, a center for planning and development within DUSP. Will create, manage, and implement finance, human resources, grants management, and other operational and administrative systems; and provide strategic advice to the executive director and deputy director.  Responsibilities will include preparing and managing budgets; creating systems for budget forecasting, reporting, tracking, and transparency across programs; tracking, monitoring, and preparing budgets and proposals for internal MIT grant processes; advising the executive team on financial matters; interfacing with DUSP and Institute financial oversight functions; overseeing the grant application and management process from pre-award proposal preparation through post-award and close-out; managing all administrative HR activities, acting as a liaison between CoLab, DUSP, and central HR offices on all related processes; and contributing to refining and implementing an operations plan to support CoLab’s five-year strategic plans.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED
:  bachelor’s degree; at least four years’ experience in nonprofit or academic administration or related field; experience with financial management (especially nonprofit finance and grants management) and creating and managing budgets and other supportive financial systems; HR generalist and management experience; and attention to detail.  Must be able to prioritize and deliver results; advise, explain implications of, and propose options to executive and leadership teams regarding operations functions; work independently and exercise sound judgment; collaborate and establish effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders; and function as part of cross-disciplinary teams that include faculty, staff, and students.  PREFERRED:  background in higher education administration, MIT experience and familiarity with its administrative systems, and Spanish language proficiency.  Job #18543-9
