RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Center for Biomedical Innovation (CBI)-Biomanufacturing Research Program (BioMAN)-Consortium on Adventitious Agent Contamination in Biomanufacturing (CAACB), to conduct research and data analysis, coordinate projects, and interface with industry.  Will create research papers for publication and presentation at events/conferences and write annual reports; conduct data analysis and modeling and develop visualizations of key results; assist with developing, planning, and coordinating up to four CBI consortia workshops per year; contribute to execution of CBI consortia-run projects, ranging from survey- to lab-based projects and compile and analyze resulting data; craft project reports, academic publications, meeting summaries, internal communications, and web-based materials; manage, coordinate, and develop content for additional CBI consortia activities ranging from task force meetings to steering committee meetings; assist with industry outreach and member management related to the CBI consortia; help write multidisciplinary grant applications (federal, private, and commercial) in support of disparate faculty from across the Institute; and perform other duties as requested. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  master’s degree or Ph.D. in biology, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field; at least three years’ experience working in a research environment; record of publication in scientific journals; familiarity with cell and gene therapy manufacturing processes, protein manufacturing processes, or virology; excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to tailor scientific communications to a variety of audiences; ability to interact effectively with faculty and staff at all levels; self-motivation; attention to detail; and strong organizational, interpersonal, meeting management, and project administration skills.  PREFERRED:  biopharmaceutical manufacturing, bioprocess development, or biotech QA/QC experience or familiarity with biologics manufacturing practices; experience with academic/industrial or academic/regulatory collaborations; experience writing scientific grant applications and technical progress reports; and experience organizing and maintaining reference databases.  Job #18509
