Job Description Summary

An instrumentation engineer with machine shop experience to aid in the development of instrumentation devices for University of Pennsylvania’s researchers and abroad. The primary function and purpose of this individual is to aid in the design, implementation, testing and documentation of electronic and embedded design solutions. This individual must be able to read, modify and capture electronic schematics, generate PCB layouts using Altium Designer/Eagle software, excellent soldering skills, cable/connector building and know how to basic machinist duties such as metal-box modifications to install electronic components according to project specifications. This individual will help in the tasks of electronic product documentation and the research of device selection. The function includes, but is not limited to, perform electronic repairs.

Job Description

Develop power electronics designs for embedded control projects while working with metal machinery to build and customize metal boxes for embedded systems electronics. Applicant must be skilled in PCB schematic capture using Altium and/or Eagle software: Plan, design and implement PCB solutions for researchers from block or electronic diagrams. Build electronic instrumentation devices and develop testing for them. Able to write simple C/C++/Python routines to test embedded systems applications. Repair Electronic devices and preform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates Degree and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. This position is contingent on continued funding.
