The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in » Sustainable Economic Policy (Bioeconomy) « to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).

Scientific Environment

The professorship belongs to the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability with additional affiliation to the TUM School of Management. The Straubing Campus provides a dynamic academic environment with a rapidly growing number of faculty, students and staff, as well as laboratory and research facilities. Our aim is to make the campus the leading European center in the field of Bioeconomy focusing on biomass utilization for chemical and material use, environmentally sound biotechnological and chemical conversion technologies, and related economic, social and political dimensions and frameworks. Our research and teaching activities benefit from the scientific environment of the TUM departments, all of which have potential and promising connections to the field of Bioeconomy.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of TUM professors include research, teaching and the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in Sustainable Economic Policy with a focus on Bioeconomy as well as Trade and Climate Policy. Teaching duties include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. There is special interest in offerings in macroeconomics in the bachelors programs of Bioeconomics and Business Administration (TUM-BWL) as well as additional advanced courses at the Master level on topics related to the candidate’s research areas.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. Prerequisites for the position are a university degree, an outstanding doctoral degree or an equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude. Substantial research experiences abroad, a commitment to interdisciplinary research, and a proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attract third-party funding (e.g. DFG, EU, AiF) are expected.
