The newly formed School of Justice Studies is seeking to appoint a Subject Leader in Policing Studies. This is a senior management role within the school and will provide academic leadership and development within the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies (LCAPS).

Policing studies is currently being transformed with the implementation of the Police Education Qualifications Framework for the training of police officers and staff and LCAPS is at the forefront of these developments. The School of Justice Studies is formed of staff who deliver to Criminology, Policing Studies as well as Criminal Justice Studies students at UG/PG level and in professional contexts.

You will lead on the overall operational management of the Policing Studies programmes and line management of the subject area, ensuring effective delivery of high quality undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, including teaching in your own specialist areas.  You will be expected to lead collaborative and income-generation activities, contribute to the development of innovative delivery patterns and enhance the internationalisation strategy.

You will have a strong research profile and an evidenced ability to provide leadership at programme/subject level, including the enhancement of teaching and learning practice. You could be an experienced criminologist with an interest in policing or an experienced police officer, educated to Doctorate level.

You will report to the Director of School and will be a member of the School Management Team. In addition, if the interview panel believes that the candidate may be suitable for conferment to the professoriate the individual would be invited to apply and then go through the conferment process separately to the recruitment process. In this instance, you will also be expected to have a strong International/national research profile, a strong publication record and track record of securing external research funding in the area.
