Vice-Chancellor and President

Employer
VICTORIA UNIVERSITY
Location
Melbourne, Australia
Closing date
3 Apr 2020

Following the announcement of the retirement of Professor Peter Dawkins after serving almost a decade as leader, Victoria University has commenced a comprehensive global search for its next Vice-Chancellor and President.

Ranked in the top2% of universities worldwide and at 45 in the world in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings, Victoria University aims to be an open and excellent University, creating exceptional value for any student from any background and uplifting the communities in which it operates. Considered a leader in education innovation and student centricity, VU is the architect of the revolutionary block model that has transformed education delivery to promote student learning outcomes and success.

The University is one of only six Australian universities to offer courses in both TAFE and Higher Education, and being a dual-sector university allows VU to realise its vision to promote educational opportunity and access across all communities. VU is a university that lives its values. The belief in the transformational power of education and its commitment to equity and community is evidenced by the University’s level of engagement and immersion in the communities that it serves, but also by the significant transformation of curriculum that will facilitate access and participation in a way that no other university in Australia has undertaken.

With campuses across Melbourne’s CBD and western suburbs, Sydney and with international students also able to study at partner institutions overseas, it is well positioned to meet the needs of students, industry and the community and enjoys strong partnerships locally and internationally.

This is an excellent opportunity to lead the University through its next chapter. Building on a track record of operating within large and complex organisations, the new Vice-Chancellor and President will need to be an agile, inspirational and visionary leader who brings the gravitas and reputation to facilitate strong external relationships with industry, government and the community, whilst reinforcing the values of the institution and its commitment to the communities it serves and continuing to build a culture of inclusion, diversity and equity for staff and students.

Victoria University will be supported in its global search for this appointment by the executive search firm Perrett Laver. If you wish to discuss this role further in confidence, please contact Janelle Entwistle on +61 2 8354 4015 or via VUVC@perrettlaver.com.
