Assistant Professor (PR0183/19-20)

The Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the tenure-track position with teaching load of three courses and several final-year project supervisions per academic year. Teaching relief may be granted upon successful bidding of external research funding.

Requirements:

(a) PhD in history, with related teaching and research experience in the higher education sector;

(b) solid publication record with an active research agenda;

(c) expertise in any historical sub-field, but priority will be given to applicants working on the following areas: South Asian history, the Middle Eastern history, Latin American history, or comparative studies of modern Chinese and Western intellectual traditions; and

(d) previous successful grant records would be an advantage.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of three years, commencing September 2020 or earlier. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
