Brief Description

To provide high quality research support and undertake internationally competitive research aimed at publication thereby contributing to the academic and research mission of the University.

Since the Postdoctoral experience is transitional to becoming an independent researcher or faculty member, the Postdoctoral tries their best to acquire the varied skills necessary to advance their career with guidance from the advisor. These skills include, but are not limited to, the ability to present research plans and findings in a convincing style, both in oral and written modes of communication, the ability to understand research group management and supervision of others, the ability to establish contacts and network with colleagues pursuing a similar research agenda, the ability to organize and teach a class or a course if more inclined towards a teaching career.

Detailed Description

Strategic Responsibilities

Provide adequate research support geared toward on-time, quality deliverables.

Operational Responsibilities

• Function autonomously, ethically and responsibly.
• Collaborate and work in a collegial manner with the research team members.
• Support the research group in the design and advancement of the research program.
• Carry out a specified research program under the directions of the project supervisor.
• Take responsibility for reporting the technical progress to the project supervisor and research group, periodically and in a timely manner.
• Engage in the dissemination of results in high quality peer-reviewed publications as well as oral forms, independently, as directed by the project leader, and with the support of the research group.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Assist with the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students working under this project, as directed by the project supervisor.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• PhD Degree in Applied Chemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science or any related field.

Required Experience

• In-depth knowledge and adequate training experience in UV-vis spectrophotometry for carrying out offline and online time-dependent measurements.
• Knowledge expertise in chemical equilibria and kinetics applied to reactions in aqueous solutions.
• Knowledge in water purification methods, heterogeneous catalysis and photocatalysis is a plus.
• Having demonstrated autonomy and team player skills.
• Excellent written English and oral communication skills.
