About the College/Role

The School of Engineering is based on innovation and creativity. Our disciplines provide programs with flexible pathways to global careers or postgraduate research encompassing: Aerospace Engineering and Aviation and other disciplines. RMIT is a national leader in aerospace engineering and aviation, with long-standing industry connections and extensive expertise in education and research. RMIT's School of Engineering is renowned for its industry-relevant high-quality teaching and research, its globally competitive graduates and its international linkages.

The Associate Professor is supported to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in the discipline of Aerospace Engineering and Aviation (AE&A), especially human factors, safety management systems, airlines/airports operations and management, airlines/airport technologies. The Professor is a senior academic and eminent researcher in the specialist field of Aerospace Engineering and Aviation (AE&A) and will make a significant contribution to the planning and strategic direction of the School.

As an Associate Professor or Professor in Aerospace Engineering & Aviation you will:

  • Provide leadership in teaching and research
  • Initiate and conduct high quality research including supervision of higher degree students, consistent with the development focus of the School
  • Maintain close interaction with industry and professional bodies, locally and internationally, to ensure that the research, teaching programs and learning activities in the nominated specialist areas are recognised as the preferred supplier of academic services.

About you

  • Possess a proven record of academic and/ or professional achievement in Aviation and related fields
  • An Associate Professor applicant will have supervised PhD research students towards successful completion
  • A Professor applicant will be able to demonstrate distinction at the national level and an internationally recognised research track record in Aviation and related fields
  • Experience in teaching at higher education level resulting in high student satisfaction
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and win research grants and/ or research contracts with industry

Qualifications

This position requires a PhD in Aerospace Engineering or Aviation Technologies or in the position’s related field.
